Photograph of a Clayton wagon supplied new to Southwell Rural District Council in the late 1920's. The engine was given the works number 1183 and registration number FE 9772:
This is no doubt a staged photograph for publicity purposes when the wagon was completed, prior to despatch to it's new owner.
Clayton Wagons were a distinct company from Clayton & Shuttleworth although both were based in Lincoln. The only surviving Clayton wagon is at Thursford 1136, a engine with is relatively similar to this one.
I started Steam Scenes back in 2000 as a way to share some of the engine photographs that I had just started to take with my first digital camera. I have been involved with road steam all of my life and take an active interest in all areas of the hobby.
